Dungeons & Dragons: Wargaming Table Build

It was a chilly morning in Minnesota, and I was thumbing through Pinterest looking for a recipe and came across “War Terrain” and “Dungeons & Dragons”. A world I was not yet introduced to, and boy did I need to make one! I wanted to construct an imaginary/fantasy world for our son. But how could I? I needed a base, and so what was in the house that I could use already? I got it! We had a play table in the basement just his size begging me to place a world on top.

It started with some sketches. This imaginary world needed water, some islands, buried treasure, bones & palm trees, and gemstones and bridges and so on…you see where this is going, it needed everything! LOL

After getting some unwanted Styrofoam from work and ordering a foam cutter on Amazon, and a little pack of tropical model trees…I was set. I had the paint and brushes, and so the construction began.

Building layer upon layer of Styrofoam, molding islands and hot gluing palm trees and plants in the right spots (who knew that would be so rewarding). Our little man helped with that part! It was finally completed. He absolutely loves the table, and since the build he’s gotten a few “Booster” packs of Dungeon & Dragon characters. Using his new world and imagination has been the best part, and its smack dab in the middle of my art/craft room.

I get to enjoy having our son upstairs with me while I work on projects. Usually, I have the pleasure listening in on what the wizards are up too, or if any Orcs have stormed the castle, and if any sea creatures have grabbed anyone yet? Oh, and my favorite…that shiny red dragon is always a terror. So, here’s to more minifigures and miniature worlds…Next, a vertical ice world on the wall. I asked our son what he thought, and he said YES PLEASE!
